Derby City in their best ever season won through to their first Midland Grand Final next Saturday against the Bears at Old Coventrians next Saturday (22nd August)
The Bears have finished as the best team in the Midlands in 8 of the last 9 years.
In the two league games played this year it’s honours even with the away team pinching the win.
Derby ran out 22-34 victors in June and the Bears gained revenge with a credited 24-38 win at Haslams.
Following that defeat in June the Bears narrowly lost at the then table toppers Leicester Phoenix, they then went on an unbeaten run that saw them snatch the Minor Premiership from under the noses of their East Midland rivals.
From a poor start the Bears under head coach Alan Robinson have improved game by game and now once again find themselves in with a chance to go on and contest the Harry Jepson Trophy, which again this year will be contested at Derby’s home Haslams ground.
Derby will be keen to be in with a shout of making a Grand Final on their own midden so next Saturdays game should be a cracker!
