Bears make it 6 from 6
On a warm afternoon the Carvell Coventry Bears really put the heat on the plucky visitors. Although for 15 minutes of the game Somerset Vikings kept the Bears defence at bay.
The home side were making good yards in attack and restricting the yardage of their opponents in defence. It was only a matter of time before Prop Aaron Jarvis broke the deadlock which was swiftly followed by a try from coach and loose forward Ty Watson. When centre Stuart Lee ran in the Bears try the Vikings looked to be under the cosh.
Somerset pulled a try back following some ill discipline when the Bears conceded two penalties in quick succession. When J& S landscapers “Man of the Match” prop Alan Robinson scored under the posts just before half time it was just about all up for the plucky visitors.

In the second half the Bears opened up and played some fast open rugby, they sealed the game with 5 tries in 20 minutes from Full back Mark Hyslop, a brace from sub Nick Thatcher, a second try from Stuart Lee. A try from scrum Half Scott Clendenning Fenton followed some clever play by Alan Robinson. With Stand off half Graham Healey converting all of them the Bears hit the 50 point mark.
With the game in the bag the Bears were guilty of switching off and allowed the visitors to score two tries. It was the Bears however that scored the last try of the afternoon when sub Andy McGrory raced 70 metres to score.
