Coventry Bears notched up 23 tries as they posted their highest ever score in their 122 points to nil victory at Redditch Ravens on Saturday.
It took just two minutes for winger Tom O’Toole to open the floodgates as the Bears scored at will against their hapless opponents.
Redditch nearly scored mid way through the first half, but even having succesfully crossed the Bears try line the player somehow managed to drop the ball in the act of putting it down.
Coventry winger Tanaka Chaunokara scored the best try of the afternoon with an 80 metre mazy run through the Ravens defence. He went on to add two more tries completing a hat trick. Coventry scrum half Nathan Tilsley also grabbed a trio and with 15 conversions managed 42 of the Bears points haul.
Tom O’Toole, sub Jake Hird, second rowers Andy Lucas, and evergreen John Nicholls plus loose forward Matt Cooper all scored a brace of tries with the other tries being scored by hooker Matt Allsopp, captain and stand off Rich Whitehouse, player coach Alan Robinson playing at prop. Centre Sam Montague, full back Dean Thompson, substitute Ben Powiss and debutant Simon Stubbs
