COVENTRY BEARS 8 v ROYAL ARTILLERY GUNNERS 38

Coventry Bears were outgunned on Monday night against a powerful and spirited Royal Artillery side. The Gunners players traveled from as far as Germany for a weeks tour of the Midlands in the build up for the Inter Corps Cup taking place between other forces sides this spring. The squad featured some real stars one being Ex Coventry Bear and Para Ken Dowding who currently plays National One Rugby Union.

The Bears featured some new and old faces with the debut of impressive forward Alex Emeni recruited from Coventry University, and the return of influential halfback players Alex Brown and Scott Clendenning Fenton to their spiritual home returning from Hemel Hempstead Stags in the National RLC. Alex and Scotty are sure to have a massive impact on the season ahead and will add some experience in key areas. Despite the defeat fun was had by all on a freezing Monday night and this game is sure to stand the Squad in good stead leading into the season.

Mens Preseason training is now underway on Wednesday nights at Centre AT7 6.45 meet, training from 7.00pm-8.10pm. New players are welcome.
