Coventry Bears Women’s team continued the Club’s winning streak by putting a strong Eastern Raiders side away 24-8 at Colchester.
The Eastern Raiders side, comprising players from Ipswich, Colchester and across the Eastern region were no match in the end for captain Debbie Drake’s girls. This was despite a number of key injuries last week (Stacy – ligaments), work commitments and a 10.00 am start. On this showing when coach Michelle Umaga finally has the luxury of a full squad to pick from the Bears Women’s side will take some stopping.
On one of the warmest days of the year so far the Bears ran home comfortable winners with 2 tries for Helen Price and one each for Davina Lambie and Lizzie Holbourne. The reliable boot of Kerry Williamson completing the scoring with 4 conversions from 4.
Helen Price took the Woman of the match award and Kerry Williamson earned special praise from Debs for her commitment and heart in only her 2nd game of Rugby League.
Training and next weeks fixture
Training continues at 7.00pm on Thursday at OCs with the return fixture against Eastern Radiers at the OC Stadium next Saturday kick off at 1.00pm.
