Carvell Coventry Bears ladies played host to Halton today in a warm up to their midlands final this coming Saturday. Halton travelled down all the way from Widnes and the Bears were looking forward to a hard test against the Northern team. All credit goes to Halton who turned up with only 10 players but were willing to stick it with their girls than borrow some off the
Bears.
The Bears got to a flying start with Kerry Williamson making a break down the wing making an impressive inside to pass to Ant Morgan who then powered herself over the line…and these two are the bears forwards!!!
The Bears set up again and straight from kick off Sian Prior scored her first try for the bears with an awesome break down the middle breaking through two would be tacklers who were left in her wake.
What followed then was impressive play by the bears both in attack and defence. Rowe Prior in her debut for the Bears came onto the pitch and clattered one of the poor unsuspecting Halton girls this gave the Bears even more confidence.
And another impressive debut form Sarah Atkins who at her first touch of the ball stormed 30 metres up the field. The Bears scored again with Kerry Williamson who again impressed for the Bears after returning from a broken collar bone inflicted during the Russia game.
The half back pairing of Lizzy Holbourn and Elaine Limond seem to be coming stronger and stronger with every game that they play.
