Coventry Bears in this their 10th anniversary season won through to their 4th Cooperative Rugby League Conference Grand Final on Saturday against Lymm Wolves.
Coventry went behind on 12 minutes but responded 3 minutes later when full back Sam Montague ran 40 metres and slipped a neat pass to scrum half Ali Marshall who weaved his way through to the line.
A period of sustained pressure saw the Bears increase the lead when Loose Forward Matt Cooper broke through to score under the posts.
A mistake from Lymm’s kick led to a drop out from under the Bears post and the Coventry outfit were punished by conceding a try.
Coventry Second row Karl Wesley broke through to score under the posts to give the Bears a half time lead at 16 points to 12.
The Bears exploded into the second half with two tries in 5 minutes. Both efforts were 60 metre dashes first by Sam Montague and then a second try for Matt Cooper.
With tempers starting to fray, Lymm dug in and had slowly clawed two tries back by the hour mark.
With 5 minutes to go a speculative punt downfield from Lymm saw the ball come to rest in the Bears in goal area. Bears Winger Tanaka Chamunokara collected the ball and raced the full 100 metres through the flailing Wolves defence to score under the posts.
Nathan Tilsley added 4 conversions and Brad Massey was the BBT man of the match

The Bears now meet West London Sharks in the Harry Jepson Trophy Final next Sunday at Derby RFC, Hasslams ground.
The Coventry Bears Women also play in their National Final against Bradford Thunderbirds at the same venue. Kick off times are yet to be announced.
