Undefeated Minor Premiers

The Carvell Coventry Bears completed their regular season and can proudly boast that they won all of their games.

In a hard fought game the Bears finally completed their14th straight victory of the season at Old Coventrians RFC on Saturday.

Gloucestershire often matched the Bears in the game and midway through the second half an upset looked on the cards.

The Bears opened the scoring when Scrum Half Scott Clendenning –Fenton shot through a gap to score under the posts. 5 minutes later, following some neat handling prop James Howitt again left the Warriors defence flat footed and scored his first try on return from a long injury.

When centre Iestyn Pratt broke clear and scored for the Bears the game looked to be all but over.

Gloucestershire hit back when full back Danny Burke kicked through and hit the post, swiftly picking up the ball he put the Warriors on the scoreboard for the first time/.

Bears substitute Tom Watts was sent to the sin bin for holding down when the visitors had made a clean break through the home sides defence.
With the Bears down to 12 men Gloucestershire upped their effort and scored twice. Fortunately the Bears maintained their lead when Burke missed the second conversion attempt.

Restored to a full compliment of players the Bears started to look more threatening and were making good breaks only for the final pass to go astray. Pratt again stormed through the Warriors defensive line and this time his offload to second rower Lee Ashford went to hand and the Bears gave themselves some breathing space.

With 5 minutes to go Alan Robinson the Bears founder crashed over to take the game beyond the Warriors reach.
